All Ross Valley Elementary schools are being re-mapped
All Ross Valley Elementary schools, which includes Wade Thomas, Brookside Lower and Upper campuses and Manor in Fairfax, are being re-mapped to accomodate the increasing enrollment. There is a meeting at White Hill Middle school tomorrow night, March 15th at 7:00 to discuss 4 scenarios. All 4 scenarios do change the boundry lines. If you are thinking about buying a home in Ross Valley or or you will be selling a home in San Anselmo or Fairfax this is critical information. For example, some Fairfax residences may have to go to Upper Brookside in Sleepy Hollow. They will be making a final decision in approximately 30 days.
Below is the power point presentation with the scenarios being discussed:

Tamalpais Unified School District Enrollment Requirements
“Where will my kid go to high school?” is a common question that is asked when Buyers are looking for the right home and neighborhood for their family. This is a very common question since Redwood, Drake and Tam are all in the same high school district and kids who live in Greenbrae or Corte Madera go to Drake and vice-versa.
Below are the open enrollment dates and the transfer policy to help answer some of your questions.
Open Enrollment (Intradistrict Transfers)
Students who reside in the Tamalpais Union High School District and wish to attend a district high school (Tamalpais, Drake, or Redwood) other than their school of residence may apply for an open enrollment (intradistrict) transfer. Space is limited and a strict timeline is followed. Applications will be available starting in January, 2011. Students desiring an Open Enrollment transfer must submit a completed Open Enrollment transfer application form to the Superintendent’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 15.
Interdistrict Transfers
In order to comply with upcoming changes in state law, the Tamalpais Union High School District has updated its interdistrict transfer policy to include a strict timeline* for submission of applications as well as other important changes. The complete policy is attached to this e-mail, and we strongly suggest that you read it if you do not reside with the Tam District’s boundaries but have or hope to have children attending school in the Tam District.
*A student who intends to apply for an interdistrict transfer into the Tamalpais Union High School District must observe a strict timeline. Completed applications for the following school year will be accepted for consideration between December 1 and December 31 of each year. A completed application is one that has been filled out and signed by the student’s parent AND approved by the student’s district of residency. Incomplete applications and those submitted before December 1 or after December 31 will not be considered.

Marin County Schools…get the information you need!
Any parent knows the value of good schools for their children. But the value of good schools doesn’t only affect children and their families, it also impacts neighborhoods and the property values of your home. Even if you don’t have school-age children, knowing the ratings of schools in your current home or prospective new homes will affect your pocketbook in the long run.
The Internet offers some free, comprehensive resources to find school ratings. While ratings don’t cover all of the facets of a school’s value, they give a quick data point to know how well children are learning at any given school. Academic Performance Index (API) score, state rank, parent education and more can be found on www.school-ratings.com. Check out www.greatschools.org for comprehensive school data nationwide. Peruse the website to find the top schools in small, medium, or large US cities (click Find a School tab, then Choose the Right School, then Moving with Kids). Or search for a specific city to review the API results.
As an agent, it is my job to know the local schools not just by test results, but through people and real stories. If you would like more information on your local schools, or the schools in a different neighborhood, just call or email me. Either I’ll help or I’ll connect you with someone who can.
