Larkspur

Located on the west side of Highway 101, historic downtown Larkspur is the heart of the community.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Larkspur is a tranquil, people-oriented town with shops, restaurants, small cafés, and an art deco single-screen movie theater.  Old Larkspur has a tavern and is famous Janis Joplin‘s last known residence which was located in Larkspur at 380 West Baltimore Drive.

In its early days Larkspur stood out due to its Volunteer Fire Department that was established in 1906 and had a one horse cart. The city of Larkspur was incorporated in March 1908 and in 2007 became a contender in Money’s Top 100 Best Places to Live/

Larkspur has so many different architectural styles of homes that you’ll fall in love with this speciali community. Each neighborhood has a distinct character. Like the redwoods, then try the redwood groves past Doliver Park (aka “Dark Park”).  Looking for views then check out the homes found high on a hill with views of the bay and Mount Tamalpais.  Larkspur is becoming one of the hottest markets in Marin.
